With the arrival of cold winter days, the indispensable and perhaps the most protective winter clothing, puffer fiber jackets, take their place in the wardrobes again. We wanted to write this blog as an enlightening guide on how to wash and care for yours in order to preserve its puffy form on the first day.
How to Wash a Puffer Jacket at Home?
You can have your puffer jackets dry cleaned or you can wash them in your washing machine at home. It is recommended to wash them at 30 degrees and on a program suitable for delicate laundry. Since they are products that take up a lot of space, prefer to wash your puffer jacket alone.
If you don't want to take any risks, you can fill the tub or sink with warm water, add a little liquid detergent and wait for half an hour. After the time, take off your coat and rinse until the detergent is gone.
You may want to use fabric softener to make your down jacket smell better. Fabric softeners damage the puffy structure of the jacket by sticking the feathers and fibers together. They should not be used.
How to Dry a Down Jacket?
The easiest way to dry a down jacket is to use a dryer. Thanks to the dryer, they can regain the volume they lost. If you don't have a clothes dryer at home, you can dry it by hanging it outdoors. Shake it occasionally to make it fluff up while drying.
If you wash and dry your down jacket according to the washing and drying instructions, it will retain its fluffy appearance as on the first day, so you will be able to use your jacket for many years.
